Poppy Cottages and The Granary are attached to Ivy Cottage Farm, Main Street, Carleton-in-Craven, Skipton. Approaching the village from Skipton, Ivy Cottage Farm is on the left-hand side of the main street. It is a long, garden fronted building, in an elevated position and is constructed of stone with a stone slate roof. The accommodation for guest use is made up of two attached cottages, with 2 floors to each cottage and stairs in both. The Granary is a ground floor annexe attached to Ivy Cottage Farm. There are just 3 steps from the front door of Ivy Cottage Farm to entrance door for The Granary. The Granary may be suitable to some people who have difficulties with walking and can manage a few steps. Once inside the entrance porch there are 3 steps, with handrail, to The Granary main door; this might prove difficult for wheelchair users. The cottages are not suitable for wheelchair users and have full stairs to the bedrooms. Poppy Cottage No. 2 has a pull-out sofa/bed in the lounge and a ground floor shower room with toilet and wash basin. There are no steps into this cottage although there are two steps from the kitchen to the lounge.
Arrival and Departure
The cottages and The Granary are available from 3 pm or earlier by pre-arrangement only. It is recommended that guests inform us of any special needs that they might have when making an enquiry or booking. For guests using The Granary we have a ramp than can be fitted to the 3 outdoor steps for wheelchair access from the carpark to the main front door. Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time this will ensure that we are here to give any assistance if required. The normal departure time is 10am. This allows us time to make the accommodation ready for follow on guests. If there are no new arrivals for that day, we are happy to arrange a later departure time, up to 12 pm (lunchtime).
Car parking facilities
There is good visible signage on the front wall identifying guests to the drive and parking area for Poppy Cottages and The Granary. Access to the parking area is across the gravelled cattle-grid and onto a tarmac drive, The parking area for Poppy Cottages No. 1 &2 and The Granary are on the right and there are 4 parking bays. The parking area is well-lit at night and the car park and driveway are monitored, for security, by a CCTV system. We would kindly ask guests to respect our neighbours' privacy and keep within our forecourt when using the car park and drive.
Accessibility for Poppy Cottage No. 1
From the parking area, it is approx 2 meters to the entrance of Poppy Cottage No. 1. One small stone step leads to the entrance door of Poppy Cottage No. 1 which is 90cm wide, with a small threshold onto a hard wearing floor surface to the hallway. Internal doors into the cottage are 80cm wide. The staircase is 70cm wide and is a return staircase with 11 steps with handrail to the first floor. The kitchen, living and dining area is all open-planned. There is a downstairs w.c. and hand basin accessed from the hallway with a door 60cm wide. Access to the garden is through double patio doors into a small conservatory and double patio doors lead onto a small step which then leads to the patio garden which is constructed with stone flags.
The staircase to the first floor is 70cm wide and is a return staircase with 11 steps with handrail. The bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor. The bathroom has a bath with shower over the bath, fitted shower screen and handrail, toilet and wash basin.
Accessibility for Poppy Cottage No. 2
From the parking area, it is approx 2 meters to the entrance of Poppy Cottage No. 2. Access to Poppy Cottage No. 2 is through a door that is 80cm wide into a small cloakroom. To the right and accessed through a doorway which is 70cm wide is the shower room with corner shower, toilet, and hand basin. The kitchen is accessed through a doorway from the cloakroom which is 80cm wide. From the kitchen to the lounge, there are two stone steps. The lounge is accessed through a door that is 70cm wide. There is a pull out sofa bed to the lounge for guests who require ground floor sleeping arrangements and a ground floor shower room facilities with walk-in shower cubicle, w.c. and washbasin as mentioned above. The garden/sitting out area is accessed through a stable door which is 80cm wide. This garden area is not private and is to the front of the building. There is a communal path which is for access to Ivy Cottage Farm and The Granary. There is one small step to the garden area which is gravelled. The path from the garden ramps down to the driveway and parking area.
The staircase to the first floor has 11 steps and is 80cm wide with handrail. There are two bedrooms to the first floor;a double bedroom sleeping 2 people with twin beds which can be arranged as a superking bed and a single bedroom sleeping 1 person. The bathroom to the first floor consists of a large bath with a handrail, separate walk-in shower, toilet, and washbasin. There is one step in the bathroom to the walk-in shower cubicle.
Accessibility for The Granary
From the parking area, you will need to walk 5 meters, down a slight slope, to the front of the building. The path to the entrance is just before the cattlegrid and on your left and runs along the front of the building. This path has a slight incline with handrail and then 3 steps with handrail. These 3 steps can be covered with a ramp for wheelchair access to the front door. The path leads to the front door of Ivy Cottage Farm with a Welcome sign on it. This main door leads into the entrance vestibule and is 80cm wide. From here there are 3 steps to the entrance door for The Granary, which is 80cm wide. Once in The Granary, the living, kitchen, dining, bedroom and bathroom are all on one level. The small patio area is decked with wooden planks and is accessed through bi-folding patio doors;which when fully opened is 4m wide. The bedroom is accessed through a door 80cm wide;there are twin beds which can make a superking bed which sleeps 2 people. The shower room is accessed through a door 80cm wide. There is a large walk-in shower which has a seat. a wash basin and toilet.
